Off Center Creative Initiatives
Concept:
A platform for curatorial projects and cultural entrepreneurship endeavors focused
on the development and promotion of the arts and culture ecosystem of Negros
Occidental, in particular, and the Visayas region, in general. The modifying
phrase “off center” is used to refer to localities outside of Metro Manila, which is
the acknowledged “center” of the art world in the Philippines.

Client Requirements:
Black and white only
Visayas region of the Philippines must be incorporated

I presented three concepts, experimenting with how the OCCI letters could fit into the natural shape of the islands.
From here I began to simplify the shape of the islands, until they just became vague shapes that resembled them.
Experiments with spacing and overlapping. The client chose the overlapping design (right side)
I chose Termina for the font for a round, modern feel. The client also wanted a font of wider width, so this hit that mark as well.
